Tip Calculator: a quick guide

Split a bill, set a tip and round the total without arguing about it.

The ChrysoKit Tip Calculator handles the four things every group asks at the end of a meal: how much tip, how to split, how to factor in tax, and how to round each person's share to a clean number.

Why use it

Mental math on a shared bill is where arguments start. The calculator shows the breakdown live, so everyone can see the same number at the same time.

How to use the Tip Calculator

  1. Enter the total bill before tip.
  2. Pick a preset tip percentage or use the slider.
  3. Set the number of people splitting the bill.
  4. Optionally toggle tax: enter the rate, and choose whether the tip is calculated on the pre-tax or post-tax amount.
  5. Optionally pick a rounding mode (none, nearest whole, round up, round down, or nearest 0.05).

Features worth knowing

Tax handling

Enter a tax rate and choose whether the tip applies to pre-tax or post-tax. Matters more than you think on big bills.

Per-person split

Splits the total across any number of people and shows each person's share.

Four rounding modes

Round each person's share to the nearest whole unit, up, down, or to the nearest 0.05. Handy when paying in cash and you want clean numbers.

Pro tips

  • If service was already added, set the tip to zero and use the calculator only for the split.
  • Round per person, not the total. The total rounds itself once you round the share.
  • Tip on the pre-tax amount is the common convention in most regions; check what is expected wherever you are.

Privacy first. The Tip Calculator runs entirely in your browser.

Keep the tab open across rounds at a bar; each new total recalculates instantly.
